Living in Cranberry Township
Cranberry Township is Deb's home base and one of the most active housing markets north of Pittsburgh. Sitting where Interstate 79, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, U.S. Route 19 and Route 228 all meet, it combines established neighborhoods, newer construction, and a business district that includes the headquarters of Westinghouse Electric and MSA Safety. The township had 33,096 residents in the 2020 census across roughly 23 square miles.
Getting around
Few suburbs in the region have highway access like Cranberry. I-79 runs north and south through the township, the Turnpike interchange connects east toward Harrisburg and west toward Ohio, and Route 19 carries local traffic to Wexford and the North Hills. Route 228 runs east through Seven Fields toward Mars and Adams Township. Buyers who commute to downtown Pittsburgh typically take I-79 south to I-279, while buyers who work in Cranberry's own office parks often have one of the shortest commutes in the area.
Homes and neighborhoods
Cranberry's housing ranges from 1970s and 1980s split levels and colonials in the older neighborhoods to townhome communities and newer single family construction in the western and northern parts of the township. Because so much of the township was built out in waves, buyers can find very different price points, lot sizes and home ages within a few minutes of each other.
Parks and things to do
Cranberry runs one of the most complete municipal park systems in the region. Graham Park, North Boundary Park and the township's Community Park anchor the system, alongside an outdoor waterpark, a Miracle League ballfield with an accessible playground, and Cranberry Highlands, an 18 hole municipal golf course. The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, the Pittsburgh Penguins practice facility, also offers public skating and youth hockey. Shopping and dining concentrate along Route 19 and Route 228.
Schools
Cranberry Township is served by the Seneca Valley School District. The district's Haine, Rowan and Ehrman Crest elementary schools are located in the township, and the district's high school campus is in nearby Jackson Township.
